DZMM 630
DZMM 630 is an AM radio station owned by the ABS-CBN Corporation. It first aired in 1953 as DZAQ, a radio station under Alto Broadcasting System owned by Antonio Quirino, the brother of then president Elpidio Quirino. Later, it was acquired by Chronicle Broadcasting Network, owned by the Lopezes.
Now on its 30th year, DZMM has covered many significant events, including the collapse of Ruby Tower during the 1968 Casiguran earthquake, the First Quarter Storm (1970), the EDSA Revolution (1986), the Dona Paz tragedy (1987), the Mt. Pinatubo eruption (1991), the Ozone Disco tragedy (1996), and the 2013 Zamboanga Siege.
In 2014, it gained international recognition for its coverage of supertyphoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) and its comprehensive reports on government actions in response to the calamity.
Aside from radio, DZMM has ventured into other platforms. In 2007 DZMM TeleRadyo was first aired in televisions nationwide. Engaging in a visual platform allowed its reporters to take and produce videos of events as they happen. DZMM is also accessible online.
