GMA News TV or GNTV is the all-news and documentary channel that launched on February 28, 2011 from GMA Network Incorporated. It airs on free TV channel 11. The station had a 3.78 percent audience share from January to August 2016 based on Nielsen’s National Urban TV Audience Measurement. The channel’s programming is owned and produced by GMA News Inc. but the channel’s legislative franchise is owned by Zoe Broadcasting Network, Incorporated.
Based on Securities and Exchange Commission documents, Christian pastor Eduardo Villanueva and his family own Zoe Broadcasting Network Incorporated More commonly known as “Bro. Eddie,” Villanueva is the president and founder of Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide. His son, Emmanuel Joel Villanueva, is an incumbent senator of the Philippines. He was recently ordered dismissed by the Ombudsman for alleged anomalies in his pork barrel funds.
GMA News, Inc. handles the management and operations of the station.
GNTV is GMA News Inc’s. response to viewers' requests “for timely news updates in Filipino and for public affairs shows at earlier time slots,” News TV Head Nessa Valdellon said in a news item by the network.
The channel shows hourly newscasts, live coverage, in-depth documentaries, reality formats, investigative programs, and public service. GNTV programs are also available in the United States, Canada, Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Madagascar, Palau, Guam and Saipan since September 2011.
