UNTV News and Rescue
UNTV News and Rescue is a TV broadcast network airing in ultra high frequency (UHF) with 24-hour programming. Businessman Alfredo “Atom” L. Henares through his company Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) owns it.
The station has a 0.2 percent audience share based on Nielsen’s National Urban TV Audience Measurement from Jan. to June 2016.
The channel airs varied programming which ranges from news and current affairs to religious programs, primarily Eliseo Fernando “Bro. Eli” Soriano’s televangelism. Soriano is the head of Members Church of God International, known locally as “Ang Dating Daan”.
The channel has rebranded a number of times in the past, but its latest incarnation as a news-and-rescue channel started on July 18, 2016.
The channel is being operated and maintained by Breakthrough and Milestone Productions International headed by its president and chief executive officer, veteran broadcaster Daniel Razon.
UNTV started as the TV counterpart of Henares’ once famous DWNU 107.5 FM, the first and only radio station that exclusively aired rock music. Hence, UNTV initially aired rock music videos.
In 2004, however, it became the home of Ang Dating Daan. Ang Dating Daan, which started in 1980, refers to itself as “the longest-running religious program in the Philippines.”
UNTV has an AM station, UNTV Radio La Verdad 1350. It also has an FM station, 107.5 Wish FM, rebranded from DWNU 107.5 FM and 107.5 Win Radio.
