Progressive Broadcasting Corporation
Progressive Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) is a mass media corporation that registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 6, 1986. It owns the legislative franchise that UNTV News and Rescue is using to operate a television station.
PBC was granted a 25-year legislative franchise five years later for commercial radio and TV broadcasting stations in four regions including Metro Manila. This franchise was amended to extend operations throughout the country. In May 2016, President Benigno S. Aquino III approved the renewal of said franchise for another 25 years.
Alfredo “Atom” L. Henares owns 70-percent share of PBC. He is also the chairman of the board and president. His father, media personality Hilarion “Larry” Henares, is chairman emeritus. Other shareholders are Joselito N. Pedero and Dennis T. Villareal.
Henares has varied business interests from real estate, electric powerplant, and palm oil manufacturing. He was formerly married to Victoria “Vicki” G. Belo, the president and medical director of the Belo Medical Group, a multimillion beauty products and cosmetics business. She is also a television personality.
